Yet another gold-drenched “design” has come out of the woodwork with a Liverpool FC themed phone. Apparently selling at $21,075; these things are little more than an old school Nokia in a fancy box with a gimmick medal. Oh yes, and there are diamonds in it. Again. Yet another one of those financial investments I wouldn’t be making even if I could.
As much as you may think this is a nintendo product, what you’re actually looking at is a Nokia concept design. Watch the video first:
The concepts behind this idea are easy enough to see, but the fact that it’s compact and mildly aesthetically pleasing says to me that this is a bit of a shot in the dark. The technology required for every function mentioned wouldn’t fit inside a pair of specs, not just yet.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that mobile phone companies will battle until the ends of the earth, so maybe technology will level out and all that will remain is the distant sound of shouting from the rooftops. “Free SIMs, or a contract sim if you cross over!”. I do admit this is not very likely. Technology is only just beginning it’s up-ramp, and there’s a world of discovery out there.
None-the-less, for the time being this will at least put a whole new spin on the mobile broadband debate. If you’re one of the stalwart old-schoolers that refuses to check Google during the pub-quiz, perhaps this isn’t your bag, but for the kids that are so new-school that “mobile” is a prerequisite to anything based in technology: this one may be just the trick to keep them excited.
This is the home of a regularly updated blog from a regularly updated person. Although you may find it difficult to keep track of the subject matter, hopefully you’ll have a giggle.
I work for a media company and sometimes I might write about clients and other things to do with that. Please feel free to leave a comment: they are moderated on a daily basis, and you will be talking to a person.
